..and the rain came..

..after some weeks of relentless sun, it rained in Bachok this evening,..there was no indication of it at noon..the sun blazed in all its glory..but by 6.30 the sky darkened..a few tentative drops sent the cats scampering for shelter..Mekbu gathered her litter of two kittens onto the front porch..the first few drops sent dusts from weeks of sun spewing into the air..by the  time I opened the sheltered doors of the tv area to let the strong, cool breeze in, it was a steady downpour..

..but 40 years ago, on the 31st of May,1970, there was not a drop of rain when I got married, not even some distant thunder from a forgiving sky...only the loud thumping in my heart as I sat facing the imam...I cannot recalled much the events that led to the nuptials..once The Big Gun of Kubang Kerian consented, things just thundered along..forms filled, money raised, date fixed and leave approved..the ceremony was on the 1st of April..and I think, amongst them only Audrey and I knew of its significance..

PakMat, Rain, I always love the rain, the noise it makes on the roof, the smell of the freshness of the droplet and of course the wetness that brought joy to everything that it touches.

In my childhood days I would 'Mandi Hujan' bath in the rain and enjoy the coolness of the water which in turn rejuvenate every senses of your body; making the physical body healthy.

Scientists [which our forefathers knew long before that] have proven that even pure water if treated with love could cure and healed the sick.

For all the benefit that water give us, we all must show respect toward water, for without it there would be no life on this planet of ours.

Have a nice day.

Abe Mat,
Listen to the falling rain
Listen to it falls....
The best way for a cat to handle the rain is to stay indoors and curl up in front of the fireplace. That's what I do anyway. Having a kenduri kahwin in the rainy season is a different story altogether. har har har *evil laughs*

Till this very day my mom & hubby hate each others guts and try to stay out of each other's way as much as possible.

The only common thing they share is love for the kiddoes & yours truly ;D

Btw pakmat, back then we osso went higher up in the hierarchy & used the veto power of my granny hehehe.

Salam PakMat, This is my first comment, thou I have been following your blog all these while.

Yesterday, I read about amalan berdoa ketika hujan turun.

Ameen!

Pak Mat, thanks to Capt Longhouse, I now fully understand the importance of rain plays in the marital bliss of kampong folks. Quote from the great pirate,

”,,,you know why kampung house use attap zinc and always pray for heavy rain ?...and also guna kelambu maa ??? master bedroom also at tiang sri for solid foundation eerrmm..you can figure out but i have 28 main tiang sri for my capt's longhouse hihihi” (sic).

And look like Pak Idrus had confirmed this with his eloquent statement above, words of a very happy man…kekeke.

Cheers,
Tommy
